WhatsApp's new feature was spotted in the latest beta update for Android.
Facebook-owned Instant Messaging app, WhatsApp has been spotted with a new feature called Mention Badge for group chats.
- WhatsApp is working on a lot of new features including multi-device support.
- As per the report, WhatsApp will add a new mention badge alongside the pin message option.
This new feature is available in the new beta release of WhatsApp for Android with version 2.21.3.13, as per WABetaInfo report, although it’s not visible to users as of now and is still under development.
The newest feature that has surfaced in the latest beta update is a dedicated badge that can be used for mentioning people during group chats and more.
The New Mention Badge for group chats when a user receives a mention in a group, a new badge will be added in the group cell.
WhatsApp already notifies users when they’re tagged in group chats so this could be an extension of the feature. There’s no word on when WhatsApp will introduce this feature in the stable version.
WhatsApp is also a rollout of a new sticker pack on App called “Taters n Tots” and available to use directly from the App itself. Simply tap on the sticker icon in any chat, and again tap on the ‘+’ icon to download the new sticker pack. The new sticker will directly appear on the list of sticker packs after a successful download.
Recently, WhatsApp has also rolled out face and fingerprint unlock while linking the device on WhatsApp Web or Desktop to the WhatsApp account. Here users are asked to unlock their phones using biometrics, before scanning a QR code from the phone to link their device.
